When hosting a dinner party you can increase the chances of it’s success by makings some preparations in advance. This will help the party run smoother, keep your guests happier and help calm your nerves.

Make sure you stock some variety of wines, beers,  spirits and sodas. Even if it’s BYOB (Bring your own beer) having a few spares can always help.

Make sure to check with your guests if they are vegetarian or vegan and try to accommodate people’s tastes as best you can without over stretching yourself. If you have them put out your fine silverware, crystal glasses and bone china mugs. This can really make an occasion special.

Try not to have the meal too late though as you don’t want your guests getting drunk before hand. Lastly try and arrange a few light hearted games for afterwards but look for one’s that can work with low participation too in case some of your guests prefer just to sit and chat.
