I started playing ice hockey last fall and I love it. It is a fast sport that requires a lot of thinking to play it well. There is a huge learning curve to get over when it comes to learning how to skate well and how to use a hockey stick to pass, catch and shoot the puck.
I got started because a friend was playing and he kept telling me how much fun he was having. I finally told him that I would play if he could get me started with gear. There is a ton of equipment you need to have to play hockey and it can easily set you back $600 or more before you ever play your first game. Luckily for me, my buddy brought me two huge hockey bags full of used gear and I only had to buy a couple of pieces to get started.
