There are herbal sleep remedies and holistic sleep remedies. There are different variations of herbal sleep remedies. The lightest one is called melatonin. Melatonin relaxes the body in order the person to rest and stay asleep through the night. It is often sold at a low enough dosage for even young children to take. Chamomile would be the next level up in a capsule or tea form. The tea does go in effect faster than the capsules would. Chamomile though relaxes the nerves and muscles in the body to go to sleep. The final step or one of the strongest forms of sleep aid is valerian root. It is much more like a sedative but at the same time relaxes and nourishes the nervous system in order to go to sleep, rest through the night and wake up refreshed.

Some holistic sleep remedies that have been very effective for many are to take a hot lavender bath with pure epsom salt. Some will even add chamomile to their bath for added relaxation. Yoga has also been very effective as a holistic approach of calming the muscles and mind to go to sleep at night. The last thing is to have someone give you a slight massage on the back and neck with some pure lavender oil. It helps relax muscles and the nerves that usually are tense and cause you not to fall asleep.

Both sleep remedies are effective when done properly. Ingredients have to be of a pure form and no added fillers or they will not work to the effect that they are needed. Sometimes it can take a couple of days for the body to absorb and adjust but eventually over time many have found that they no longer need them to get a good night’s rest.
