Chlorine, found in swimming pools and hot tubs can also be a problem. Those chemicals can now also get trapped between your eyes and contact lenses. This is not a good chemical to have there. It can cause irritation or even sting your eyes.
So, no – you should not wear contact lenses when you go swimming. Chemicals, particles and bacteria can get caught between your eyes and the lenses – causing irritation or even worse… eye infections. Take them out before you venture into the water. If you need vision correction while swimming, you can get prescription swimming goggles and this is the best way to go.
