There are many things that go into a plastic surgery procedure such as liposuction. Each of the steps involved in liposuction from preparing for the surgery up to the healing process carries a level of risk that we may not even be aware of until it is too late. During the research phase when a person first considered the procedure they might learn about some of the surgical effects that could go wrong but what they don’t talk about are the others side effects of liposuction that stem from procedures leading up to or after the surgery.
One of the most common problems associated with any surgical procedure is related to the administration of anesthesia. This is the drug used to sedate a patient or numb an area before the surgery begins. If the patient has not been properly analyzed before the administration it is possible that the solution triggers an allergic reaction which can cause a myriad of complications. Overdosing is a common mistake which can cause any sort of problems. Other issues range from cardiac arrhythmia to brain damage due to a lack of oxygen to the brain and anything in between. That is why an anesthesiologist plays such an important role in surgical facilities.
At the opposite end of the surgery process, the recovery can be troublesome as well. The good news here is that most of these side effects are not fatal and usually temporary and could be mild in effect. This includes swelling, bruising, or hematomas all of which are caused by improper drainage of fluids from the area. After time the body naturally will dispose of the excess fluid which will take care of the problem.
Of course it also depends largely on the different techniques involved. Many liposuction procedures now utilize a technique known as laser lipo which essentially uses a laser to literally melt body fat. The melted fat is then removed from the body and this significantly reduces typical risks of liposuction because the procedure is a much smaller version of traditional liposuction procedures.
