If your fridge ice maker is not working there are a number of things that you can check on your own before calling in a repairman. The most obvious thing to check for is mechanical failures. Mechanical failures usually involve broken pieces on the icemaker itself. Look for things like broken stripper arms, broken plastic gears, and other obvious signs of failures. Sometimes you can even find other a physical failures by seeing where there are burn marks or other indications of electrical problems. Once you find a mechanical failure, it is a simple things to describe to your fridge repair parts supplier what is broken and have that part ordered to be replaced. Mechanical failures account for approximately 50% of the fridge icemaker repairs that I do. It is one of the first things that I look for when I go into a customer’s home to inspect their fridge ice maker that is not working.
