If you’re looking to breathe new life into a winter formal dress, think of the piece as a foundation upon which you will build a fabulous, creative outfit. Staying warm and looking stellar sometimes seem to be at odds. But being practical and pretty is possible if you put together the right combination of layers and accessories. Winter formal dresses don’t have to be boring and stuffy.
If your dress is made out of a velvety or metallic material, go ahead and let it be the star of your outfit. If it’s made out of a more subdued material, such as tweed or wool, give it a new energy with bold accent pieces.

Then, go glam with a dazzling faux fur coat that hits just below the hip or a fuzzy bolero jacket that hits just above the hip. Finally, strap on a pair of sky-high, gemmed, sturdy heels.
