How to Prepare for a Trade Show

What is the best way to prepare for a trade show?  The key to preparation is knowing your audience and setting goals for your trade show experience.  Knowing your audience is important because it impacts every aspect of the show.  It helps to determine messaging, marketing, and even the tone you take with current or potential customers.  For example, a show whose target audience is mostly retail customers would have a different feel than one whose clientele is sales representatives. A show whose participants are mainly returning customers will be different for you than one where you are targeting new business.  Having an in-depth understanding of the audience will allow for you to prepare an appropriate booth, curtail your messaging so that it apply directly to that audience, and market directly to those individuals.  You can even decide on various take-away items based on a particular audience.

Once you have determined the audience, set some goals that will help you to make the most of your trade show experience.
