Although the base of a papasan chair is more often than not made from a rattan or wicker material the cushions material does tend to vary greatly. Not only does the outer material vary but also the filling and construction of it. You can get feather fillings and man made fillings, buttoned and unbuttoned. To be honest though I would highly recommend getting a buttoned papasan chair cushion. The shape that the cushion needs to fit in is a bowl, logically this tells me that if you put an unbuttoned cushion in a bowl shaped frame, all of the filling will end up in the middle of the bowl. Let me tell you, this isn’t going to make a very comfortable seat at all so when your looking for a new cushion, make sure it’s buttoned.
