Back in the day the health benefits of yoga were not as well known as they are today. Mainstream America did not “do” yoga. That was for weirdo’s and kooks, maybe even beatniks. Times have changed. Yoga is everywhere, even the workout gurus of the 90’s have jumped on the yoga bandwagon. Yoga centers or studios are not like your typical gym, when you walking into a studio, the only thing you are immediately aware of is the calmness of the area. The yoga studios that I have been too usually have some soft music playing, maybe some chimes in the background as a white noise sound. Typically there is some water feature with the gentle sounds of the water cascading down the fountain.
Yoga is a low impact form of exercise but the health benefits don’t stop there. It works off the areas of pudge on our bodies that may not be as easily reduced by traditional exercise.
