If you’re looking for an underdog team to watch in the National Hockey League this year you should pay attention to the Washington Capitals. The Capitals made it to the second round of the playoffs this past season only to be smacked down by the Crosby led Pittsburgh Penguins. The Penguins later went on to take the entire championship against the Red Wings.
The Capitals are dawning their red, white, and blue hockey jerseys for another go at it and I think this year is going to be even better than the last. They haven’t lost any of their good players from last season (they managed to keep their shining star Ovechkin in the line up) but they’ve gained a few others who promise to add something to the team. Out of all of the South Eastern teams this year I think the Capitals will be the ones to watch. Tampa Bay and the Florida Panthers aren’t looking too hot and neither is Atlanta or Carolina so I think it will be a good year for the Caps.
