Avoiding Injury During a Kitten Bath

A kitten bath is generally thought to be a painful, traumatic experience for everyone involved.  In most cases, the kitten certainly doesn’t want to be bathed, as most kittens are dead set against being placed in water at all.  This can cause them to lash out quite vigorously against anyone who happens to be in the vicinity.  in most cases, this will be the owner, their hands in particular.

Rather than accepting the scratches and lacerations so commonly obtained from trying to deal with an upset kitten, there are a couple things that can help make the process easier for everyone.  First, you should place a rubber mat in the bottom of the sink to keep the kitten from slipping.  Also, you should hold the kitten by the scruff of the neck, just as a mother cat would.  They understand that this means that they shouldn’t move.
