I’ve been considering getting thermal curtains for our lounge room, because our summers just seem to be getting hotter every year. Our lounge room windows face directly west, so when the sun is at its hottest, it is shining directly on those windows and turning our house into an oven.
As it turns out, thermal curtains are a lot more expensive than normal ones, and I know my way around a sewing machine, so I’ve decided to make my own. I found a great tutorial on the Internet, and all I need to do is buy some thermal curtain lining and attach it to one of my existing curtains. I am hoping that not only will this reduce the heat coming in, but it will reduce our need to run the air conditioner so much, which is becoming a really big expense for us.
