It seems almost everyone wants to have a bright, white, confident smile. If you’re trying to whiten your teeth, there are a wide range of mostly inexpensive home teeth whitening kits that claim to do about the same job as more expensive cosmetic dentistry treatments. It sounds too good to be true, so what actually sets the two treatments apart? The main difference between take home kits and the procedures done by your dentist is that your dentist is allowed to use whitening agents that contain a lot more carbide peroxide, the substance that whitens your teeth, than over the counter kits can. This is because carbide peroxide can cause stomach irritation if it becomes accidentally swallowed and can also irritate your teeth and gums.
