Growing up as a midget child in Queens my life was somewhat different until I learned to drive. There is something about when a teen drives for the first time that helps to even out all the disadvantages or differences people see in you. Sure, I had to have a special car set made so I could operate the shift, brakes and accelerator, but it was still the freedom of my own car and being able to get around myself. I remember well the day my Dad hung up the phone with our friends at Titan Insurance and handed me the keys. That first trip – even though it was just around the block – was one of the best feelings of my life. Now with children of my own getting ready to drive, I am both worried and excited at the same time about their own personal freedom journey.
