Cleaning Breakfast Nook Tables

Because you do a lot of eating there, the breakfast nook table will need to be cleaned regularly. I have to scour mine daily because my two young children inevitably get food and crumbs all over it when they eat. You should keep this fact in mind when choosing breakfast nook tables. Whatever material you choose for your breakfast nook table, make sure that it is durable enough to be cleaned often and not porous enough to let food and liquids get deep into it. Some woods can be very porous and if spills occur on the surface, it is possible that the liquid could be absorbed by the wood and then later there will be unpleasant odors and you might have to replace the table. Liquids getting into the wood can also cause it to rot. Surfaces that are easy to clean are glass and tile. The one downside to glass is that fingerprints will occur very easily and it will be virtually impossible to keep the table clean. Tile is probably the best choice because it easy to clean, can not absorb liquids, and its harder to see fingerprints on its surface.
