Dermatitis is a common skin inflammation, there are different types of dermatitis out there like for example seborrheic dermatitis, atopic dermatitis or contact dermatitis. They are different in causes, and also tend to look somewhat different. However a common treatment widely used in medicine is applying topical steroids for dermatitis creams.
Now, these creams seem to work fine, but there is also a downside to its use. I think it is important doctors tell us of the possible side effects its use can bring. Among the side effects of topical steroids we have: skin atrophy, infection alteration, glaucoma and stretch marks.
Side effects show after continuous use, that’s why it is recommended to apply creams for let’s say seven days and then stop. But in conditions like seborrheic dermatitis this is a chronic problem.
