I have a bit of a peeve with the people selling merchandise on eBay that is supposed to be related to a particular period of American history. I’m talking of course about cartoons. Saturday morning cartoons to be specific. There seems to be a blur of memory happening because when I search for old 1980′s cartoons, I get results that clearly show cartoons from the previous decade. Sure, maybe Scooby lasted into the eighties, but you have to consider Scooby a late sixties to seventies toon. If you lived through the Saturday morning adventures, this just cannot sit well with you.
Eighties cartoons are much more about adventures of warriors and space people and the like. Seventies toons were like mini stories that were told in ten or fifteen minutes. Although I understand how confusion could occur, I think it is only right to classify these vintage toons by the decade in which they were most prevalent.
